The focus should always be on the student and their individual needs. Because this child is our future, we should foster their development and create a strong relationship. This can be done through the classroom dynamics of creating an environment conducive to all learners, utilizing a student directed learning approach and being a role model. What students need most is support and someone who truly cares about them and their progress. Secondary to creating this supportive relationship should be art. If you do not have a firm foundation of trust and respect, true learning and development will not occur. |
SECONDARY ART EDUCATION PHILOSOPHY ABSTRACT Secondary students have a lot of major changes going on in this stage of their lives. They are rapidly maturing physically, mentally and emotionally in academics, sports, their personal life and their art. These students have the capacity to create conceptual artowrks that make meaningful connections between themselves, their art, the art world and their surrounding environments. These students have the potential to be confident of and creative with their artwork. The secondary art classroom should be facilitated by a responsible and engaging teacher who will help foster the development of each student's individual growth both as a person and as an artist. |
